custom orders

$0.07 per square inch covers the whole quilt: design, piecing, batting, backing, longarming, binding, and shipping. An 80 x 90 quilt is 7,200 square inches. That is $504.

Backing is 100% cotton, neutral or a color that works with the top. We show you pictures as it is made. If you have any questions or need further clarification, I’m always happy to help! Feel free to reach out anytime. Thank you for considering VQS. I look forward to working with you.

Memory & T-shirt quilts

Design, piecing, batting, backing, longarming, binding, and shipping are included. You send the shirts. A $150 deposit is required.

Small, 50 x 60, up to 20 shirts. Medium, 60 x 70, up to 30. Large, 70 x 90, up to 40. Queen, 90 x 90, up to 50.

Step 1: Choose Your Quilt Size: Small, Medium, Large, and Queen.

Step 2: Select & Gather Shirts Choose clean, meaningful shirts (T-shirts, jerseys, button-downs, hoodies, baby clothes). *Send more shirts than you think you’ll need (extras help with color balance, layout options, or replacing any damaged pieces). Minimum for a throw: Usually 20 good graphic areas.

Step 3: Prepare Your Shirts – Checklist Follow this checklist carefully for the best results. I handle all precise cutting and stabilizing after you send them.

☐ Wash the shirts

Wash all shirts in mild detergent on a normal cycle. Do NOT use fabric softener, dryer sheets, or heavily perfumed detergents (these can interfere with interfacing adhesion).

Dry as usual and lay flat to minimize wrinkles.

☐ Inspect and sort Check for stains, holes, or very worn areas (note them if you still want them included).

Remove all pet hair, lint, or debris. Separate “must-use” shirts from extras.

☐ Do NOT cut the shirts Send them whole (I will rough-cut and trim them precisely after applying interfacing).

☐ Fold and package Lay shirts flat, then fold neatly. Place in a sturdy box or large plastic bag. Include a note with: your name, phone/email, quilt size, and any photos of desired arrangements.

☐ Ship or drop off at the studio. Do NOT send items you want returned unless pre-arranged (most fabric is used or kept as scraps). I’ll confirm receipt and may send a preliminary layout photo for approval. Once approved, I start construction (interfacing, piecing, quilting, binding).

Turnaround Time: Typically 2 weeks after receiving shirts, depending on my schedule and custom requests. Rush options may be available.

What to Expect: Your shirts will be stabilized with high-quality fusible interfacing. I use cotton batting and quality backing for a soft, durable quilt. The finished quilt is machine-quilted and machine bound. Final photos before shipping, plus care instructions (gentle wash, air dry recommended).

Questions or Special Requests? Feel free to ask! I love collaborating to make your memory quilt perfect. Thank you for trusting me with your precious memories!
