finishing touches

- Edge-to-Edge | $0.03 per square inch

This involves a continuous, repeating pattern that flows seamlessly from one edge of the quilt to the other, covering the entire surface uniformly. It's efficient, beginner-friendly, and ideal for utility quilts or when you want consistent texture without highlighting specific piecing. Pantographs come in endless styles—from swirls and loops to florals or feathers.

- Custom Quilting | $0.04 psi

Tailored to the quilt top, this technique enhances individual blocks, sashing, or borders with specific designs. It often includes stitch-in-the-ditch (sewing precisely in the seam lines for subtle definition and stability), outlining (echoing shapes to make them pop), cross-hatching (grid-like lines for structure), or free-motion elements. It's more time-intensive but adds personalized depth.

- Show-Quality Quilting | $0.05 psi

Designed for quilts entering shows or as standout home pieces, this level features dense, detailed work like feathers (elegant, flowing motifs with spines and plumes), stippling (tight, meandering small loops for texture), background grids, or intricate free-motion designs. It requires precision and highlights the quilt's artistry.

- Heirloom Quilting | $0.07 psi

The most luxurious and labor-intensive option, heirloom quilting is for treasured pieces meant to last generations. It combines very dense stitching—tight stippling, fine grids, elaborate feathers, and trapunto (adding extra batting under motifs for raised, sculptural effects)—creating exceptional dimension and elegance. Trapunto and dense feathers create breathtaking raised designs: These techniques can be mixed and matched to suit your quilt's style, from quick everyday quilts to heirloom masterpieces. The right choice depends on your time, skill level, and the quilt's purpose—each brings its own charm!

- Machine Basting for Hand Quilters | $0.01 psi

4 stitches per inch, basted approximately every 6 inches

Add on - $10.00

  • Leaders - Backing not 6" - 8" larger on all sides? We sew leaders onto the edges so it mounts correctly on the machine.

  • Pieced Backing - We'll piece together your backing fabric if you bring it in panels rather than a single cut.

  • Square Up Backing - Backing fabric that isn't square gets squared up so it mounts straight on the frame.

  • Back Pressing - Wrinkled backing? We'll press it flat before loading so it quilts smoothly.

  • Seam Repair - Open or weak seams in your quilt top are repaired before quilting to prevent tearing under tension.

Choose how it is quilted...

Quilting is priced per square inch based on your finished quilt top size. Use the table to estimate your cost. Final measurements are taken at check-in and your estimate is adjusted if needed.

Edge-to-edge | One design travels across the whole quilt. Clean, even, and the most common request. It lets your piecing stay the star.

Custom Quilting | Different treatment in blocks, sashing, and borders. Slower. More expensive. Right for heirlooms, show quilts, and tops that need the stitching to follow the patchwork.

Not sure? Send photos of the top with your quote request. We will tell you which approach will serve the quilt — not which one sounds fancier.
